Francisco Rivas, a Venezuelan-Portuguese artist born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1982, has been living and working in Portugal for over a decade. From an early age, Francisco showed a deep passion for the arts, inspired by the vibrant energy of his Caribbean roots. He pursued a degree in Arts at the Central University of Venezuela and later expanded his knowledge in Graphic Design and Animation, studying in Buenos Aires and at the University of the Arts London.
Although he worked as a motion designer for several years, painting always remained central to his identity. He had his first solo exhibition at the MAAT Museum of Art, Architecture, and Technology in Lisbon as part of the “Interstício” initiative, which marked the beginning of an exciting artistic journey.
Over the years, Francisco has participated in a wide range of exhibitions, showcasing his work internationally. Highlights include “Purely Primary” at the Van Der Plas Gallery in New York, “Artificial Intelligence” at the John Dos Passos Cultural Center in Madeira, “Brut Life” at a prestigious cultural center in Portugal, and an exclusive show in Mykonos, Greece. His bold strokes, vibrant color palette, and deeply emotional pieces have captivated audiences in Lisbon, New York, Madeira, and beyond.
Currently, Francisco lives and works in Lisbon, continuously pushing the boundaries of his artistic expression.
